About Dr Daniel Connell

Australian visual artist who investigates portraits as a socially engaged practice, exploring encounter, translocation and belonging. Born Adelaide, Australia 1970, trained in visual art while employed in schools as a Spanish language teacher and a support worker in a facility for the homeless. In 2007 Daniel began spending much of his time in India. He has since worked on significant visual arts projects for festivals and government and completed a PhD in the School of Art, Architecture and Design, University of South Australia. He is a lecturer at Adelaide Central School of Art and has exhibited in the Kochi Muziris Biennale and been a finalist in The Doug Moran Portrait Prize and many others. See TED X at
